The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline declined three cents over the past week, settling at $4.06, according to recent data. This decrease follows a drop in crude oil prices, which are now hovering around $70 per barrel, as market optimism grows that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will return to normal operations.
Currently, half of the states in the U.S. are reporting average gasoline prices below the $4 mark. This trend reflects the broader impact of lower crude costs on retail fuel prices, offering some relief to consumers at the pump.
Typically, gasoline prices begin to ease around this time of year as summer demand wanes and the transition to cheaper winter-blend fuels approaches. Motorists can expect continued gradual declines if crude oil remains stable.
